Hi, I just created an Ubuntu 20.04 VM (using Quick Create) in hyper-v on a Windows 10 Pro machine (version 1903, build 18362.836) and while I can ping/telnet to other hosts (both on my local lan and also on the internet) DNS resolution does not work. I am using the default switch for the VM with the default settings Normally we default to acquiring dhcp lease, storing it, and using hostname from it. When we do dhcp lease, we use predictable random clientid based on the interface name & machine-id. We do not use MAC address as Client ID as used to be common in the past, but often enough leads to duplication / impersonation, or privacy leaks it has taken time but I have autoinstall working. I am converting from CentOS 7 kickstart. I need to install (remotely) 20.04 on machines with 2G Ram. No more ram can be installed as they are remote. I log into the machine - edit the 40_custom file, download the vmlinuz and initrd files from casper - re-run grub2-mkconfig for CentOS 7 and all - when it reboots its starts installing 20.04.
I have a brand new ubuntu 16.04 image that I've created with packer based on the bento configs. My config is nearly identical to the 16.04 config here. My ubuntu vm fails to get a dhcp lease, even after rebooting. Other windows and centos VMs on the same vlan get their dhcp leases no problem. The only way I get a lease is if I manually run dhclien Incorrect Country Code in wpa_supplicant.conf File. If you're configuring Wi-Fi on your Raspberry Pi using wpa_supplicant, then you have to define a 2-letter country code on your wpa_supplicant.conf configuration file.. For example, if you're living in the United States of America (USA), then the 2-letter country code is the US.If you're living outside the US, then you can find the 2. This article explains how to set up a static IP address on Ubuntu 20.04. Typically, in most network configurations, the IP address is assigned dynamically by the router DHCP server. Ubuntu 20.04 Network Management It is difficult to envisage an Ubuntu system that does not have at least one network connection, and harder still to imagine how such an isolated system could be of much practical use I'm planning a nuke-and-pave for my server now that 20.04 is out and I'm interested in using autoinstall (with either the server or netinstall USB ISOs) to automate the early installation, such as: Partitioning the SSD (ESP/boot.ext4/root.xfs) Set hostname, network (DHCP) Install a few packages (e.g., openssh-server, build-essential, etc. Ubuntu 20.04| 18.04 comes with systemd-resolve which you need to disable for the server to access your network DNS directly. sudo systemctl disable systemd-resolved sudo systemctl stop systemd-resolved If on DHCP, you can update DNS server manually. $ sudo unlink /etc/resolv.conf $ sudo vim /etc/resolv.con

Being a bit stubborn, the workaround to this problem is to replace the /etc/issue with one that looks like Ubuntu 18.04 since the customization script only looks at that file to identify the OS and what commands to run. After testing this in my environment the VM deployed successfully, so @vmwzhangv please just request them to add 'Ubuntu 20.04' as an OR to the condition for 18.04 The process i found to get things working was to first change the hyper-v switch setting to use of an external switch [ / bridged ??? ] connection. After that the ubuntu network adapter connection was working at which point i ran sudo apt-get update, sudo apt update and finally software updater offered updates and a reboot I recently installed Ubuntu 20.04 LTS (Focal Fossa) (dated 23 April 2020), with the intention of creating a VM using VirtualBox 6.0.22 (released 15 May 2020). Assuming Ubuntu can see your machine wireless adapter. If this is not the case, you may need to refer to section 5 below. Now that your wireless card is recognized by Ubuntu, .i.e. the firmware is working, we need to guide the system in order to let it know how to handle the wireless card. This is achievable via drivers or modules I had the same issue of losing internet access in WSL (running Ubuntu 20.04) when converting it to version 2. Reverting to version 1 promptly restored internet. Converting back and forth switched internet on and off consistently. Internet access outside the WSL was always fine. Trying to repair the Ubuntu installation didn't solve the issue
This, in short, is the solution. In other words, do not use an external switch. When you are on wifi, hyper-v will create a bridge between your wifi adapter and the adapter it creates for the external switch.
